From the 1st December, 2010 the Qld Pool Safety Council implemented new pool safety laws which now apply to all existing pools in Queensland. Every pool needs to be registered.

SAFETY CERTIFICATES NEED TO BE OBTAIN BY:

Home Owners

Have 5 years to obtain a Safety Certificate
unless you sell or rent your home first.

Shared Pools

Have 2 years to obtain a Safety Certificate.

Short Term Accomodation

Have 6 months to obtain a Safety Certificate. This includes Hotels/Motels, Backpacker Hostels, Caravan Parks, Resorts and other businesses that sell room accommodation and have a pool.

Landlords

Need a Safety Certificate before a lease is signed or renewed.

Certificates are valid for:

• 12 Months for a shared pool
• 2 years for a non shared pool
